Holly M. Barba Named a VIP Member of Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Nonprofit Services
Holly Barba helps future first responders obtain the equipment and educational support they need
BOCA RATON, FL, February 7, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Holly M. Barba, President, Founder and President of The G.W. Bailey First Responders Charitable Fund, Inc., has been named a VIP Member by Cambridge Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
With many years of involvement in the nonprofit arena, Ms. Barba has served as the president of the G.W. Bailey First Responders Charitable Fund, Inc., for the past year. The foundation, which is dedicated to providing aspiring paramedics, EMTs and firefighters with the equipment and educational support they need in order to complete their training, was founded by Ms. Barba's family in loving memory of her brother, a volunteer firefighter who died right before his graduation from Palm Beach State College. As the leader of the non-for-profit organization, Ms. Barba oversees marketing, event planning, fundraising, social networking and purchasing activities. She attributes her success to her teaching background and passion to help others, as well as the inspiration provided by her brother.
Ms. Barba is an expert in the field of public education, and taught for many years at Quiet Waters Elementary School in the Broward County School District. Additionally, she taught adult education at the Broward Detention Complex for Adjudicated Adults; it was this experience that opened her eyes to the problems facing women of lower socioeconomic status and first inspired her to make a difference in the nonprofit field. In addition, her brother's experience of trying to work and go to school at the same time made her realize the economic hardship experienced by many people who wish to establish a second career.
Ms. Barba received a Bachelor of Arts in education from Florida Atlantic University in 1988. Two years prior, she earned an Associate of Arts in education from Palm Beach State College. She is a licensed educator in the state of Florida and holds membership to the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. In the future, she hopes to establish a permanently endowed scholarship for first responders in training at Palm Beach State College.
